وقد تناول البحث المقالة الأدبية عند محمد عمر توفيق؛ وذلك لما تمثله من أهمية كبرى في الأدب السعودي، الذي يعتبر توفيق أحد أعلامه البارزين، إضافة إلى ما احتوته مقالاته الأدبية من رسالة ثقافية قيمة، تركت أثرها البيّن على مجتمعه وبيئته.
ولقد هدف البحث إلى رصد أبرز الاتجاهات التي امتازت بها المقالة عند توفيق، من خلال الوقوف على طبيعتها، ووصف أبرز الموضوعات التي عُنيت بها، مع تحليل لمضامينها وما اشتملت عليه من أفكار، ورؤى، ودوافع، ومؤثرات. بالإضافة إلى دراسة السمات الفنية، والخصائص الأسلوبية التي امتازت بها، والبحث في إشاراتها الدلالية.
و جاء البحث مُقسّما إلى تمهيد وأربعة فصول، تناول في التمهيد مفهوم المقالة، ومكانتها في الأدب السعودي، ثم تحدث عن محمد عمر توفيق حياته وأدبه. كما توزعت فصول البحث على الاتجاه النقدي، الذي جاء في مبحثين: المبحث الأول: القضايا الأدبية والنقدية، والمبحث الثاني: نقد الصحافة. وفي الفصل الثاني جاء الاتجاه الاجتماعي، وفيه مبحثان: المبحث الأول: الظواهر الاجتماعية، والمبحث الثاني: الوعي الاجتماعي. وفي الفصل الثالث جاء الاتجاه التأملي مشتملاً على مبحثين: المبحث الأول: التأمل في الكون والحياة، والمبحث الثاني: التأمل في طبيعة النفس البشرية. أما الفصل الرابع فقد تناول السمات الفنية، وفيه مبحثان: المبحث الأول: البناء المقالي، والمبحث الثاني: اللغة.
واختُتِم البحث بأهم النتائج والتوصيات التي توصل لها الباحث، من أهمها: ما أبانه البحث عن مكانة محمد عمر توفيق، ودوره الريادي في ميدان الثقافة والأدب السعودي، وإسهامه في إثراء الحركة الصحافية في المملكة العربية السعودية، إضافة لكشفه عن رسالة الكاتب التي استحوذت على جلّ مقالاته، وهي إيقاظ الوعي، والارتقاء بالمجتمع والدفاع عن الدين، والمقدسات، والوطن.
وقد أظهر البحث كذلك، نزوع الكاتب إلى التفكر والاستبصار، والتأمل والتدبر، كما أظهر أن التربية الدينية، والتجربة الوظيفية وما لها من تبعات، والروح المتسائلة؛ أبرز المصادر التي شكّلت تجربته الأدبية.
Abstract: Research title: The literary Article of Muhammad Omar Tawfiq, its Trends and Characteristics "An Analytical Descriptive Study".
The research handled the literary article of Muhammad Omar Tawfiq, because of its great importance in Saudi literature. Tawfiq is considered one of the prominent figures of the literary article, in addition to the valuable cultural message contained in his literary articles, which left a clear impact on his society and environment.
The research aimed to identify the most prominent trends that characterized Tawfiq's article, by reviewing its nature, describing the most prominent topics it concerned with, and an analysis of its contents and the ideas, visions, and influences it included. Moreover, it aimed to study the aesthetic features, and the stylistic characteristics that characterized them.
The research consists of an introduction and four chapters. The introduction addressed the concept of the article, and its status in Saudi literature, then the Biography of Muhammad Omar Tawfiq, his life and literature. The research chapters were also divided into the critical trend, which came in two topics. The second chapter handled the social trend, and it includes two topics. The third chapter addressed the contemplative trend and it included two topics. As for the fourth chapter, it handled the atheistic features.
The research concluded with the most important findings and recommendations reached by the researcher, the most important of which is the importance of Muhammad Omar Tawfiq’s position, his pioneering role in the field of Saudi culture and literature. The research also identified the writer's message that captured most of his articles, which is awakening awareness and upgrading society. The research also showed the writer's tendency to contemplation and insight. It also showed that religious education, job experience, and an inquiring spirit were the most prominent sources that shaped his literary experience.
