Abstract: The research focuses on the study of the hadiths and aathaar narrated on the falling of a mouse into fat (butter) its narration and understanding, due to its importance as a major proof on issue of the mixing of an impure substance with fluids other than water, and because the statement of a general ruling on the issue of fluids other than water, is primarily based on authenticating some of the narrations of the hadith or declaring them weak, due to the elaborate commentary of scholars on the hadith of Maymuuna –may Allaah be pleased with her- in terms of its narration and understanding, and the many disputes surrounding its chain of narrators and its texts, and the variation in the understanding of the scholars regarding it, and the many jurisprudential issues related to this hadith. The research was divided into an introduction, two chapters, and a conclusion. Chapter one: Hadiths and aathaar on the falling of a mouse into butter regarding their narrations. And the second chapter: Hadiths and aathaar on the falling of a mouse in butter regarding their understanding. The research followed the method of tracking and extrapolating the hadiths and the aathaar reported on the topic, and studying and authenticating them according to the approach of the scholars of hadith. Among the findings of the research: that the foregoing hadith was narrated by a group of narrators, and it is only the hadith of Maymuuna that is authentic among all, in its brief non-detailed text, which was the one chosen by Al-Bukhari in his Sahih. The authentic one among the texts of the hadith is the brief narration, on the authority of Maymouna that a mouse fell into butter and then died, so the Prophet- may peace and blessing of Allaah be upon him- was asked about it and he said: (Throw it away and what is around it and eat the remaining). This is the text of Bukhari. The aathaar mentioned on this issue are ten, five of which are sound, which are the aathaar of Ibn Umar, Ibn Abbas, Abu Musa, Anas and Aisha -may Allaah be pleased with them-. The scholars of Hadiths mentioned these hadiths and aathaar in their books with chain of narrators, and in the books written in the hadiths of rulings, and Al-Jawaami‘, and Az-Zawaaid in the chapters on purity, foods, sacrifices, hunting, and sales.
