المستخلص: Aluminium alloys cannot be used in aggressive corrosion environments applications. In this paper, three different surface coating technologies were used to coat the 6082-T6 aluminum alloy to increase the corrosion resistance, namely Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO), Plasma Spray Ceramic (PSC) and Hard Anodizing (HA). A series of electrochemistry experiments were used to evaluate the corrosion performance of these three types of coatings. Generally, all three-coated aluminium showed better corrosion performance. The PEO coatings are well adhered to the substrate and showed crystalline alumina structure. The results indicate that the PEO coating can offer the most effective barrier to the aluminium substrate as it has the highest enhancement factor under electrochemistry tests compared to the other two coatings. The PEO coating has the lowest amount of aluminium ions released after immersion in 3.5% NaCl solution. The impedance resistance decreased as the immersion time increased, which indicated that the material degradation was taking place in the protective properties of the coatings only.
