المستخلص: مما تمتاز به اللغة العربية الإيجاز، ومن صور الإيجاز: الإخبار بالمفرد عن المثنى والإخبار بالمفرد عن الجمع، تتبعت في هذا البحث هذه الظاهرة في كلام العرب ، ووقفت على ضوابطها القياسية وعلى ماورد فيها من سماع، مع إيراد الشواهد من القرآن الكريم والحديث الشريف ومن شعر الاستشهاد اللغوي، ووقفت على أن الإخبار بالمفرد عن المثنى قياسي ، و أن الإخبار بالمفرد عن الجمع سماعي، وبعضهم يقيسه وفق ضوابط ومعايير ، ودراستي فيه دراسة وصفية.

Abstract: Among the characteristics that the Arabic language distinguishes is brevity, and among the various forms of brevity: reporting by the singular about the two things, and reporting by the singular about the plural, and among this phenomenon in the speech of the Arabs; I came to know about its rules, and learned about what was contained in it from hearing evidence from the Holy Qur’an, the noble hadith, poetry, and linguistic examples, and I learned that reporting by singular about about the two things is formal method, and reporting by the singular about the plural is an auditory method. Some scholars measure it according to the rules and standards, and my study in this regard is a descriptive study.
