Title Identifying the Reasons for the Titles and their Impact on Discrediting (Al-Jarḥ) and Endorsement (Al-Ta’dīl)

يتناول هذا البحث أسبابَ ألقاب الرواة، مع بيان أثر معرفتها على تعديلهم أو جرحهم. وقام الباحث بدراسة تراجم الرواة الملقَّبين، وأوضح أثر معرفة سبب اللقب في حال الراوي جرحًا وتعديلًا.
وجاء البحث في قسمين:
القسم الأول: في تعريف اللَّقَب، وذكرِ أشهر الأسباب لأطلاق الألقاب، وحكم ذلك، والمصنفات في الألقاب.
والقسم الثاني يشتمل على: دراسة الألقاب والتراجم .
وخلص البحثُ إلى: أنَّ غالبَ الألقاب المذكورة في البحث كان السببُ في إطلاقها: إما اشتهار الراوي بأمر كان يُكثر منه، أو لتمييزِه عن غيره، أو للضدِّية.
كما تبيَّن تنوُّعُ أثر المعرفة بأسباب الألقاب: فمنه دفعُ توهم تضعيف الثقة، أو دفعُ توهم توثيق الضعيف، وكذلك الدلالة على قوة الحفظ والإتقان، وغير ذلك.
وصلى الله وسلم وبارك على نبينا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين.
Abstract: This research addresses the reasons behind the titles of the narrators with a statement of the impact knowing them on their endorsement (ta’dī;) and discrediting (jarḥ). The researcher studied the biographies of the narrators that have title, and clarified the impact of knowing the reason behind the title on the status of the narrator in terms of discrediting and endorsement.
The research exists in two parts:
Part One: The definition of laqob (title), and the mention of the most significant reasons for the conferment of a title, and the ruling therein, and the literature on titles.
Part Two: Including: A study of the titles and the biographies:
The research concluded that: The reason behind the conferment of most of the titles mentioned in the research: is either due to the popularity of the narrator for something that he does often, or to differentiate him from others, or as an opposite reflection.
Also, the variety of the impact of knowing the reasons behind the titles became clear, including: debunking the insinuation of weakening of the reliable, or debunking the insinuation of authenticating the weak, and indication of the strength of memorization and mastery, and so on.
